I am originally from Scotland. After a varied career, I decided to try make my childhood dream come true and be a writer. Now I have an MFA from Georgia College, and I'm working toward a PhD at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I am a poet and a teacher . . . and I love an audience. Here I am, reading at the Palm Beach Poetry Festival in 2010. My friend Anne DeCarteret took this, the only cool picture of me that exists. I guess I'm a late developer, but my first poetry collection, Breakfast for the Birds, is at last an object.
